Studio 8 is pleased to introduce April 2010 school holiday glass workshops for children aged 6-16 years. The tutor, Judith Bohm-Parr,an experienced professional glass artist for 30 years, is a current blue card holder, BUT NOT a babysitter. These workshops are for art orientated children who wish to expand their experiences to include warm and cold glass working, not to be used as a child minding centre. Parents are welcomed to inspect the workshop and discuss any questions they may have regarding the programs. An emergency contact number of a family member able to respond will be needed in the unlikely event of an accident or sickness.**The start and finish times are not negotiable, so please do not expect to drop your child off an hour early or pick them up an hour late. |

This workshop is designed for older children between the ages of 10 and 16 years as there may be glass cutting involved. Any glass cutting will be closely supervised. The students can choose between a variety of simple projects such as wind chimes, door name panels, suncatchers and tiles. (All projects will be fired after the workshop, and will be ready to pick up the following day around lunch time) The children will not be involved with the kilns. If time permits 2 projects may be completed. The students will be able to experiment with crushed glass and inclusions such as wire, leaves and stringers. Children are asked to wear closed footwear, bring a notebook, lunch and any special requirments due to allergies, sickness etc., such as medicines or drinks. The children can bring prepared designs, or we can draw up ideas in the workshop. Morning and afternoon breaks (cordial or juice and biscuits) will be provided. The cost includes all materials and firings, coloured pencils and paper for designing & safety glasses.. |

This workshop is designed for children from 6 years old to 16 years. The scope of the workshop can encompass a diverse range of expectactions. There will be no cutting of glass (unless older children wish to customise the pieces of glass available- 10 years and up). The children will be able to construct a traditional mosaic tile(cold working only, no kilns involved) that can be used as a coaster, door plaque, house number or picture to hang on the wall of their bedroom. The project will be presented in kit form for younger students, including design template, backing board and surrounds, glass, glue and grout. The glass will be pre -smoothed so there are no sharp edges. For older students, there will be the opportunity to design their own pieces and include ceramic tile pieces in their project. The pieces created should be able to be taken home the same day, but not used for 24 hours.(Allowing the grout to set) Children are asked to wear closed footwear, bring a notebook, lunch and any special requirments due to allergies, sickness etc., such as medicines or drinks. The children can bring prepared designs, or we can draw up ideas in the workshop. Morning and afternoon breaks (cordial or juice and biscuits) will be provided. Children are encouraged to attend more than one workshop to maximise their creativity. |
