| This
workshop will be an introduction to the creation of simple glass components
that will then be assembled into neckpieces, earrings, bracelets or brooches.
No previous experience in glass or jewellery making is necessary.
Day one will cover cutting and assembling the glass components including dichroic glass, crushed glass and stringers, before being fired in a kiln. There will also be a demonstration on making simple glass beads using the torch, and if time permits an opportunity to create one as well. Day two is when we put it all together. Techniques covered will include drilling holes in glass, wire bails, jump rings, crimping, simple catches, and use of tiger tail and memory wire. Students should wear covered footwear (no thongs, sandals) and bring safety glasses, notebook and pens. All materials, equipment and morning/afternoon teas & coffees will be supplied. (Bring your own lunch or see catering options.)
