This workshop is designed
for the serious glass addict who wishes to extend their experience from
open casting or fusing & slumping to full three dimensional glass
sculptures. Kiln casting: creating a 3 dimensional figure by melting glass
inside a mold in a kiln.
The workshop covers open cast molding which when fired results in a flat
backed but sculptured piece of glass. Participants can make a cast paperweight,
jewellery or a plaque. We progress from there to complex model and mold
making techniques including lost wax and rubber models. One project will
be completed in full 3-D.
Students should wear covered footwear (no thongs, sandals) and bring safety
glasses, notebook and pens. All materials, equipment and morning/afternoon
teas & coffees will be supplied. (Bring your own lunch or see catering
options.)
